SO YOU THINK YOU CAN SAVE?

I want to know what you do to save money. The best way will win a prize. I know I have something cool laying around here to give away. Contest closes Oct 1. Let others know about our crazy contest. Lets see how you save!
For example, there was a lady that unrolled her two ply toilet paper to make two rolls. Was it worth it?

  1. I'm not sure exactly which money-saving method I will post but I submit that enrolling your 2-ply toilet paper to save money is NOT worth it. Really.

  2. The absolute best idea I have found is to not go to the store--the grocery store, sams club, target, etc. The more I find myself in a store the more money I am spending. The other thing I do is to make a list of what I need from different stores. Once every 2 weeks I go to the store and get only what is on the list--that way I prevent impulse buying. If I see something at the store that I need then I have to add it to my list to get next time.

  3. I make my own laundry soap. Having 4 kids means LOTS of laundry. I have also made my own dishwasher soap and baby wipes. I even had the crazy idea to make cloth diapers, and did actually finish one, but I decided it was way more trouble than it was worth.

  5. We spend a LOT of money on medications due to my son's CF. I have found that a lot of pharmaceutical companies run promotions or have loyalty cards that give you money off your co-pay on brand name prescriptions. Often, these come with samples you can get at your doctor's office. Also, we order some of the medications through a mail-in pharmacy that can get us 3 months' worth of a prescription for only 2 monthly co-pays. Finally, some pharmacies like Publix will give you 2 weeks of free antibiotics from a selected list.
